There are 12 permanently installed Ethernet links going from various wall sockets in the room to the rack, ending up on the black 24-port patch panel at the very top. Different quality of cable was use (some CAT6, some shielded CAT5, some CAT5 UTP), so your high-frequency (i.e. Gigabit) mileage may vary.

The wall sockets are all labeled, the labels corresponding the the number on the patch panel. Socket number 10 is located in the middle of the room near the ceiling on the cable rails.
